Highgate Barnhouse is a spacious and stylish countryside retreat set within a 30-acre country estate in the rolling Mid Wales Marches at Bettws Cedewain. Sleeping up to 20 guests across 5 ground-floor en-suite bedrooms, with space for up to 4 dogs, it is ideal for large family gatherings, group countryside breaks, multi-generational stays and relaxed rural escapes, set in a private, completely detached position. With generous social spaces, stylish interiors, a games room, electric lift, wrap-around patio, enclosed paddock and 30 acres of grounds to explore, Highgate Barnhouse provides a comfortable and practical base for larger groups. Guests can also meet the owner’s animals, including alpacas, ponies, pigs and sheep Inside the property Step inside this impressive countryside retreat into a welcoming entrance hall, with plenty of space for coats and boots. From here, the hallway leads to the ground-floor bedrooms, making the layout particularly practical for group stays. There are five ground-floor bedrooms, each designed to offer flexible accommodation for families and larger parties. Each bedroom is set up as standard with one super-king-size zip-and-link bed and two single beds, providing a comfortable mix of shared and individual sleeping arrangements. The rooms can also be made up differently on request, including as two super-king-size beds per room or as 20 single beds across the property. Head upstairs to reach the main living space. Here, the property splits into two large light-filled rooms, with breath-taking countryside views from every window and access to a spectacular balcony. The kitchen and dining area has been designed with group catering in mind. There are two electric ovens and hobs, a microwave, fridge and dishwasher, with a further dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and chest freezer located in the utility room. Once the meal is ready, everyone can gather around the long refectory-style dining table with benches. After dinner, settle into the enormous lounge, with comfortable sofas, a Smart TV, board games and table football. On warmer evenings, open the feature doors onto the Juliet balcony and enjoy the views across the estate. Bedrooms and bathrooms Highgate Barnhouse has five ground-floor bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities, making it a comfortable and flexible option for large groups. Each bedroom has one super-king-size zip-and-link bed and two single beds as standard. On request, the bedrooms can be arranged as two super-king-size beds per room, or as single beds to provide up to 20 individual beds across the property. There are six ground-floor bathrooms in total. These include four en-suite shower rooms with WC, one en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath and WC, and one additional ground-floor shower room with WC. There is also a separate WC on the first floor. This layout works well for larger families, groups of friends and multi-generational stays, particularly where ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms are helpful. Outside space Outside, Highgate Barnhouse has a wrap-around patio with ample garden furniture, making it a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the countryside setting. There is also a charcoal BBQ for the warmer months, a generous lawn and an enclosed paddock and even a little brook to find. Guests can explore the wider 30-acre estate and, just across the road, visit the owner’s animals, including alpacas, ponies, pigs and sheep. The estate also has a well-established trout pond of around a third of an acre, with a jetty over the water, where guests can relax by the water or enjoy catch-and-release fishing. The enclosed paddock is a useful feature for families and guests bringing dogs, while the wider grounds offer plenty of space to roam and enjoy the Mid Wales countryside. There is off-road parking for up to 10 cars, space for storing canoes and bikes, and EV charging is available on site. |
